Every Friday we hope to bring you a khutbah or short lecture in English that we feel may be of benefit to you. Think of it as a weekly khutbah from a different perspective. All you need to do is spend 30 minutes (or less) a week to learn something new.
If you have any suggestions on a video that we should share please send us an email via "Write for Us".
In honour of our sisters only event on Friday night (if you haven't heard about it read about it here) this week we thought we'd pick something relevant to women.
Imam Khalid Latif is the Imam of the New York University Islamic Centre and the New York Police Department (!). He is the first imam (Muslim chaplain) at New York University and was also the first imam at Princeton University. He has an amazing grasp on human behaviour and does not hold back when he tackles difficult issues, in this case gender.
Imam Khalid's lecture entitled Real Men Don't Hit Women (which you can watch here) was a runner-up in the FaithTrust Institute's National Sermon Contest.
